2018 Heifer Grant Winners

Walter was the recipient of the $500 Andrew Dosch Memorial Grant, Morgan was the recipient of the $500 Klein Family Memorial Grant and the others each received a $250 grant sponsored by the NDHA. Congratulations Juniors. All Juniors purchased heifers out of the sale.


2018 Donation Heifer – Congrats to heifer winner Nick Hoffart, Sanborn, ND. Special thanks to Larry and Logan Behm for providing the 2018 donation heifer.


The 2017 NSC donation heifer was donated by Carl Olson Hereford Ranch, Argusville, ND. Gary Freidt from Freidt Herefords, Mott, ND won the raffle drawing, and graciously donated the heifer back to the NDHA to be auctioned off. Friesz Livestock, New Salem, ND purchased the heifer. Thank you Carl and family for your support of the assn. Proceeds from the sale of the donation heifer is used or NDHA Herford promotion.

This year’s 2017 NDHA Hereford Breeder of the year is the Bruce Klein and Pat Weber family. The Klein family raise Hereford cattle near Scranton, North Dakota. This family has sponsored a $500 memorial grant for any junior who wishes to purchase a Hereford heifer at the North Star Hereford Sale. This grant has been offered for eight consecutive years. Ashley Geidd was the first junior to receive the Klein Family Memorial Heifer Grant. This year’ NDHAs recipient is Kaleb Neshem from Berthold, North Dakota. The NDHA and NDJHA would like to thank the Klein Family for their continued support of the juniors.

16 hd of heifer calves avg $2115

High selling heifer was Lot 15 consigned by Friesz Livestock selling to Jake Aanden, Fertile, MN.

Olson Hereford Ranch sold Lot 23 for $2500 to Skye Bjerke, Lake Park, MN.

Wolff Cattle Co sold Loyts 13, 14, and Lot 21 to Whispering Pine Farms, Big Fork, MT.

Rafter T Herefords sold their lot 19 for $2500 to James & Jeremy Maher, Morristown, SD.

2 hd steers Avg $1375 – Gib Mouser Family from Tenstrike, MN took Olson’s Lot 32 for $1550.

Dakitch Farms sold 2 lots of 3 embryos each – Lot 30 for $1275 John Gilbertson, Puposay, MN and Lot31 went to Jerry West, Harrisburg, NE for $975

Donation heifer sponsored by Topp Herefords, Grace City, ND was won by Rylee Lodoen, Westhope, ND

North Dakota Hereford Association’s 2014 Producer of the Year

Awarded to Jimmy Carter, Carter Polled Herefords, Rock Lake, ND with President Andy Mrnak and AHA rep – Levi Landers.


It was a great Hereford Sale at the North Star Classic today, Dec. 7.

The donation heifer from Baumgarten Cattle Co., Belfield sold $4,910 tickets – proceeds used for the NDHA.


Certified Hereford Beef now sold in all North Dakota Cash Wise stores!

Minot ND Cash Wise Opening

The North Dakota Hereford Association helped Brad Ellefson VP of retail from Certified Hereford Beef with the grand opening of the new Cash Wise store in Minot ND on Oct 2 and again on the 3rd. Annette Rockeman and Chris Rockeman from Donnybrook, ND. It was a very busy the first day serving almost 800 samples of different steak cuts of CHB like rib eye, strips, flat irons, chuck eyes and the big secret, tri-tips. There was a lot of positive comments on the product and also many times stated we are sure glad we can buy something different then Angus. We also had recipes from the North Dakota beef council and all three organization helped in offering a $1.00 off coupon for the purchase of any Certified Hereford beef product.
